A COMMITMENT TO SOCIAL JUSTICE
Jody Adams takes commitment seriously, from seasonal, local ingredients to social justice on a global scale. No small endeavor. To make a difference, she has joined forces with an organization called Partners in Health, a Boston-based nonprofit that works with poor communities all over the world to combat disease and poverty. From Haiti to Rwanda, from Russia, Peru and Lesotho to parts of the US, PIH’s mission is medical and moral: combating allegedly “untreatable” health problems effectively, even in poor settings (visit www.pih.org to learn more).
The story begins in the dining room of Rialto when Jody met PIH founder Paul Farmer (check out the book Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracey Kidder to read about Paul and PIH). Paul is a wiry, passionate, brilliant man who is committed with a fierce focus to resolving global health problems. Jody is an energetic, entrepreneurial, petite chef-on-fire passionate about running a successful business and helping the world while she is at it. She has decided to use the tools of her trade to raise awareness and funds for PIH.
Salon Dinners with Jody and PIH
Have you ever dreamed of having a James Beard award-winning chef prepare a multi-course meal in your own home? What could be more rewarding than bringing a group of friends or colleagues together to learn more about how to help solve global health problems? How could these things ever be compatible? Answer: Salon Dinners with Jody and Partners in Health. We bring the chef, design and prepare the five-course meal with paired wines and invite the PIH leadership. You bring your friends and get ready to raise money.
